Poetry...

Here's a couple of poems I have written recently. The first is a Haiku that I wrote after listening to Claude Debussy's "Claire de Lune." The second is a terza rima I wrote for extra credit in World Lit I--by the way, it had to end with the word "stars" because Dante ended Paradiso that way.

Moon Haiku
You created Moon,
Floating orb of dust and dirt,
To reflect the Sun;

You created Man,
Walking mass of flesh and bone,
To reflect the Son.

Terza Rima
Across the great divide of heaven and earth,
a thousand points of lights shine over me
like God’s grace shines to give the destitute worth.

In this moment, the only thing I see
is my depravity revealed in the light
of the sun’s glow reflected onto me

by the moon, softly dancing in the night
sky. In the right place at just the right time,
it finds itself burning in the darkness, bright

against the night’s infinite blackness. I’m
pond’ring God’s infiniteness and his grace--ours
should we recognize that Christ, in his prime,

was sacrificed—giving his life, taking our scars—
on Calvary’s cross underneath these stars.
